Okay, thanks to the Peggy Lee discography (d'oh!) we find Laura Rucker and Baby Dodds are the actual names involved. Still nothing on Rucker at Tribune, NYTimes has a mention by Peggy in 1981 but Dodds gets loads of mentions in the Tribune. You should be able to find some things with the proper names. Hope that helps.by Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
A quick check of the NYTimes and Chicago Tribune archives only turns up a football player by the name of Bobby Dodd/Dodds. No hits for Laura Ricker. Nothing in Billboard archive (via Google Books) or Media History Digital Library.by Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
I think it's fine, charming even. The same type of arrangement helps. I was a big fan of Diana Ross and the Supremes when I was a kid. It's funny -- Cher is still a big attraction, residency in Las Vegas, sold out shows, countless "farewell tours," Lady Gaga and the like all pay tribute but Diana Ross isn't really on the radar anymore. She's still out there but hardly playing venues appropriate fby Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board

Liz Smith didn't care for the book -- or Peggy Lee as a person it seems: reviewby Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
Thanks for the additional info, I didn't realize there were two. BTW I have both Greenland and Iceland on my short list of places to visit. I just watched a movie version of a Arnaldur Indriðason mystery (Jar City) filmed in Iceland and it looks beautiful.by Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board

Ivan, I love the biographical timeline you've expanded. A bit off topic - the picture of the building that housed The Jade Lounge really fascinates me - what is that thing on the roof? I haven't found anything out about it yet but I did find a website that documents the history of the location - Hollywood Blvd. and Cherokee, northwest corner. The Geisha House is indeed on the site of The Jade Louby Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
From the website devoted to the TV Yule Log: "Unfortunately, the mission of the new company that took CCM over (Super D) is totally different than that of the old owner (Infinity Resources). Super D's main target in its purchase of Infinity Resources was to acquire the Deep Discount.com website and get stronger foothold in the DVD market. Interesting thread - Latin Ala Lee was the album that started me collecting Peggy Lee, this was circa 1978. A friend who was into "old music" told me to get a copy and I did. It was a big hit at parties too. I'm surprised to find out that "Till There Was You" wasn't included on the original release in the UK. I knew Paul McCartney based his vocal (with The Beatles) on Peggy's version (it basicallby Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
I did a quick check at the ASCAP website which lists the song but under Publishers/Administrators it says "none found."by Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
Hello Katie -- The first PL album I bought (on vinyl no less) was "Latin Ala Lee." (I still have it and a working turntable.) A friend who was also into "old" music strongly recommended it. It's a great album -- perhaps only a sliver of what PL did musically, but I have played it at parties for over 30 years and it ALWAYS brings raves from the people who hear it for the first time -- which isby Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board

According to reps from Warner Home Video during a chat at the Home Theatre Forum Pete Kelly's Blues - restored and with a 5.1 soundtrack - will be released sometime in 2008. No word on any extras.by Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
This episode can be viewed - in its entirety (including commercials) but in b/w - at the Museum of Broadcast Communications website. I don't know if it's been mentioned here before. Their website is a little klunky. Search under Index Class - TV, Radio and News, Keyword - Peggy Lee (no quotation marks but case sensitive) and it'll bring it up. They have other PL stuff but, as yet, it hasn't beenby Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board

If you're written any reviews you can connect with your homepage by going to a review you've written and clicking on your name or "see all my reviews" at the top of the review. Hope that helps. Anyone have any details on the song "She's Too Hip To Be Happy" by Peggy & Cy Coleman? I noticed the title under Peggy's compositions on the ASCAP website. I Googled it and only turned up a mention that it was on a 1973 Mills Bros. album (A Doughnut And A Dream on the Paramount Records label). The title intrigued/amused me. Happy Holiday to all. Starbucks US is going to be selling (if they aren't already) a DVD of the movie "White Christmas" packaged with a Decca CD reissue of "Selections from Irving Berlin's White Christmas" for 19.99. I assume it will be the same as the original album but I can't find a track listing. It'll be featured on TCM too.by Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
Lyrics are correct except for the "never were there" which should be "There were never," at least from the scratch 45 rpm single I just listened to - it came out of a jukebox too.by Eric V - Peggy Lee Bulletin Board
